Avital Talya Milenkiy
Chemical Toxicologist
Avital Talya Milenkiy received her B.Sc. in Chemistry with a specialization in Biophysical Chemistry from Ben-Gurion University, Israel. After completing bachelor’s degree, she proceeded to her master’s in Organic Chemistry, which she completed in 2021 at Tel-Aviv University. Her master’s project dedicated to the fields of Analytical and Bioorganic Chemistry. As part of her research work she used the quinone methide chemistry and reactivity principles to synthesize novel derivatives of trihydroxybenzene with potential anti-bacterial activity.
During her master’s studies she joined the Non-Clinical Safety department at Teva Pharmaceuticals in a part time position. This was an opportunity for her to grow and establish her knowledge in chemical toxicology, by supporting chemical and computational toxicology assessment projects.
At 2021, upon the completion of her master’s studies she was promoted to a full time position as a Chemical Toxicologist at Teva Pharmaceuticals. In her work she supports the risk assessment process, by performing an overall mutagenicity risk assessment of impurities in pharmaceuticals.
DAY 2: DECEMBER 1st, 2023
SESSION: Expert analysis and in-silico qsar methodologies to assess the mutagenicity potential of impurities
◆ Different methodologies applied for a comprehensive mutagenicity assessment.
◆ Case studies presenting the overall assessment of impurities associated with QSAR: equivocal predictions, inconsistent in silico predictions, unclassified, misclassified and out of domain chemical moieties.
◆ Analyzing the in vitro Ames test results, in order to provide mutagenicity assessment based on experimental data.
