Marko Trampuž
Senior Scientist
Marko Trampuž works as a senior scientist in Early Development department in Sandoz Development Centre Slovenia, Lek Pharmaceuticals d.d. He obtained his Master of Pharmacy degree in 2015 and PhD in Chemical Engineering in 2019 at the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia. After completing his PhD, he joined SciLifeLab’s Drug Discovery and Development platform in Stockholm, Sweden as a medicinal chemist for 1.5 year. Since joining Lek Pharmaceuticals d.d. in 2021, his main responsibilities have been the development of novel analytical approaches for N-nitrosamine impurities and complex active pharmaceutical ingredients, utilizing his skills in synthetic organic chemistry and spectroscopic methods.

SESSION: Nitrite scavengers as excipients for inhibition of N-nitrosamine formation in drug products
◆ Addition of nitrite scavengers to various dosage forms inhibits N-nitrosamine formation during manufacture and storage.
◆ Nitrite scavenging activity does not directly translate to N-nitrosation inhibitory efficiency.
◆ Need for careful selection of a suitable nitrite scavenger based on the properties of vulnerable amine and dosage form.
